Through visiting the special thematic exhibition at the Science Museum, students learned about the history and design of clocks and watches from around the world, gaining insight into how different cultures and histories have shaped the creations of human civilization.
Tailored to the topics of each grade and the needs of our students, the General Studies / Humanities Department organizes various visiting activities. Through these learning experiences, we aim to enrich students' knowledge and broaden their horizons.
Visit to a Local Food Factory
Through visiting a local instant noodle factory and observing the food production process on-site, students deepened their understanding of Hong Kong's culinary culture. They also learned how to read nutrition labels on food packaging to recognize the nutritional value of foods, helping them achieve a balanced diet.
Visiting a Community Service Centre to Participate in Eco-Friendly Activities
To promote a new green culture of 'Use Less, Waste Less' and tackle ongoing waste management challenges, students visited 'KWUN TONG COMMUNITY GREEN STATION' to learn about local environmental protection initiatives. By participating firsthand in recycling and waste-reduction activities, they actively advocated the importance of a green lifestyle and worked together to cherish Earth's resources.
The General Studies / Humanities Department also invites guest speakers to the school to conduct talks for our students. Through interaction with these guests, students can deepen their understanding of various topics, spark their interest in learning, and foster self-directed learning.
Smoke-Free Interactive Education Theatre
To cater to the needs of lower-primary students, a local theatre troupe was invited to our school to perform a tour of the School Interactive Education Theatre. Centred on the theme of tobacco control and enhanced by music, stage effects, and lively, engaging performances, the drama enabled students to understand the hazards of smoking products while enjoying the show. Through an interactive approach that encouraged student participation, lower-primary students easily learned to debunk smoking myths and establish a smoke-free, healthy lifestyle from a young age.
Smoke-Free Interactive Education Talk
For upper-primary students, professional speakers were invited to host a talk at our school to explain smoking myths, ways to refuse smoking, and the benefits of a smoke-free environment. The talk also included a Q&A session, allowing the speakers and students to explore the hazards of smoking products from multiple perspectives. This interaction helped spark students' thinking, deepen their understanding of the topic, reflect on how to resist the promotional tactics of tobacco companies, and encourage friends and relatives to quit smoking—working together to support a smoke-free Hong Kong.
Interviewing School Staff Members
Primary 1 students conducted interviews to understand the work of various staff members who serve our school. Interviewees included the Principal, school clerks, janitors, teachers, guidance teachers, and the teacher-librarian. After the interviews, students completed interview logs and presented their findings in class. Through learning about each interviewee's role and responsibilities, this activity enabled students to appreciate the contributions made by different school staff, enhancing their sense of belonging to the school while fostering empathy and positive values.
